Live room
Our live room (30ft x 16ft) is equally well suited to guitar based bands and small orchestral ensembles. It has a good live acoustic which works particularly well for rock and indie band drum sounds.

In one corner is an isolation box for guitar amps etc. This cabinet, which is large enough to house a 4 x 12 stack or leslie speaker, is acoustically separated from the rest of the room so a guitarist can wind their amp right up and the sound will not spill over onto drum mics.

We have fitted another corner of the live room with removable acoustic treatments to create a greatly reduced ambience for the many occasions in modern music when drums and other instruments need to be recorded "dry". This treatment takes the form of a heavy duty carpet on the floor, felt curtains on the walls, acoustic tiles - velcroed to the ceiling and removable acoustic screens. The treated area measures approximately 15ft x 12ft

The live room has 24 audio tie-lines, 2 video composite tie-lines and 12 headphone monitor returns from 4 mixes. Also a small PA is fitted using Alesis Monitor 1 and wedge speakers with a 12 channel mixer, for rehearsal purposes and for listening back to recordings.

Vocal Booth
An acoustically-treated vocal / voice over booth with a good selection of microphones (inc. Røde Classic, AKG 414, Neumann TLM103) provides vocalists and soloists with the controlled environment needed to produce a complete "studio" sound.

The reduced ambience is also very suitable for voice-over work and dialogue replacement for sound to picture. The dry recordings from this environment can be treated using Mosaic's Lexicon Reverbs to simulate any real environment as required.

The vocal booth has 6 audio tie-lines, a video tie-line connected to a 21" monitor and 6 headphone monitor returns from 4 mixes.
